    FAQs

What size DIY Mini Split do I need?

Get ready to tailor your comfort with precision! Here's what you need to consider:

    1. The Size of the Area to Heat / Cool (Square Feet)
    2. Your Local Climate (Is it sizzling hot or icy cold for prolonged periods?)
    3. Insulation (From drafty spaces to snug havens, insulation plays a crucial role)
    4. Basic Sizing based on Square Footage alone:
    • 9K BTU = 180 to 375 Sq Ft.
    • 12k BTU = 376 to 500 Sq Ft.
    • 18k BTU = 501 to 750 Sq Ft.
    • 24k BTU = 751 to 1,000 Sq Ft.
    • 36k BTU = 1,001 to 1,500 Sq Ft.

What is the operational temperature range for DIY Mini Splits?

The operational temperature range for DIY air conditioning units varies based on whether it's a Multi-Zone or Single-Zone system:

    Multi-Zone:

    For the 4th Gen Multi-Zone 18k – 36k condensers:

    • Heating: -13°F to 75.2°F (outside temperature)
    • Cooling: 5°F to 122°F (outside temperature)

    For the 4th Gen Multi-Zone 48k condensers:

    • Heating: 5°F to 75.2°F (outside temperature)
    • Cooling: 5°F to 122°F (outside temperature)

    Indoors, at the thermostat:

    • Cooling: 62°F to 90°F
    • Heating: 32°F to 86°F

    Single-Zone:

For the 4th Gen Single Zone 12K – 24k condensers:

    • Heating: -13°F to 75°F (outside temperature)
    • Cooling: -13°F to 122°F (outside temperature)

For the 4th Gen Single Zone 36k condensers:

    • Heating: 5°F to 75°F (outside temperature)
    • Cooling: 5°F to 122°F (outside temperature)

    Indoors, at the thermostat:

    • Cooling: 62.2°F to 89.6°F
    • Heating: 32°F to 86°F

What can I do about the excess coil/line set length?

It is recommended to leave the remaining/excess line set coiled horizontally near the condenser and wrapped with protective tape. This will not impact performance whatsoever.

The unit was delivered by a semi after I spoke to the delivery company and told them it would be tough to deliver. Left beside the road. The unit had to be moved with a front end loader. To large to carry. Install went well. Only issues I had was the whip that was purchased from Mr. Cook was for 3/4” knock outs. The electrical panel on the unit had 1/2” knock outs and there wasn’t enough drain line to for the evaporator to be ran away from the building. Product seems well built and cooks like it should

System was easy to install with basic tools. AC works great. Haven’t been able to use the heat pump yet.
